    the building on the right (or maybe middle? a Marriott) of the first pic looks just like the hotel I stayed at when I was in vancouver last summer

    On the third shot, I'd suggest shooting at a longer focal length (not sure what lens you were using) and wide open.

    save up for the 70-200 f/4.0L.... $500ish used. Great lens for the price; it'll hold you over until you can afford the f/2.8.
