So I just upgraded from 2x1gb sticks of pc8500 and added 2x2gb of the same brand pc 8500.

I am unsure of placement makes a difference but right now its

    1GB 2GB 1GB 2GB

In my bios it shows the ram running @ 1066, but this is what i get from cpu-z:

my timings are off and its showing as pc6400... what gives? ram is supposed to run @ 5-5-5-15

I don't know about the RAM speed. You might want to try tinkering with different speeds and seeing if it registers in CPUZ. As for the timings, you run ALL the RAM under the same timings, so you generally pick the highest latencies of the batch.

nevermind. Found out I had to hit ctrl F1 in bios to find timing tables. I just manually set it to 5-5-5-15... ram is still showing as pc6400 but its running at 533mhz dual channel so i think im all set.
