My Brother called me to see if I can remedy this problem of his. He lives over 4 hours away and I'm clueless without having the darn thing in front of me.

    Anyhow...

He tells me that it takes multiple attempts to get his computer to actually perform correctly and fully boot. Sometimes he'll turn it on and it'll freeze on the "ABit" screen. Then it might make it to the diagnostic screen, but it'll freeze there, etc. Until eventually it makes it to Windows after repeated attempts of turning the machine on and off.

Where can I tell him to start looking to solve this issue? Thanks again!

Also he states that some times when trying to turn the machine on, the case lights will light up, but the monitor just displays "No Signal." Doesn't make it to any screen.

So it doesn't want to boot up, but once it boots up, it works reliably? Or does it keep crashing after it's booted up?

Sounds like a heat-stress issue to me, like something has a cold solder joint (or a crack in the silicon) and it's not working right until it heats up. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess which part is actually malfunctioning.

Yeah, apparently it works fine after it finally boots up. I know it's a bit of a vague description, but that's all I have to go with. I don't even have the machine in front of me :hs:

    Thanks so far, though :)
