doing this for a friend. Currently 500 Mhz PIII. Either upgrade to 800 Mhz PIII or Powerleap Adapter and 1.3-1.4 GHz celeron tualatin. Both around $100 for the prices I'm seeing online.

Will there be a great difference between one or the other?

    thanks for your help

they're both over-priced. Save up some extra cash and get a new mobo/cpu/ram.

I couldn't agree with you more, but they only want to upgrade and not buy new.

then tell em to live with their slow piece of shit. Upgrading that is like throwing their money away. If they need my paypal info, let me know, because giving their money to me would be much more effective :)

Seriously, not gonna help at all.

and, btw, a new mobo/cpu/ram still *IS* an upgrade if you keep the hdd, cd's, etc.

They're paying me to do this so I guess they are throwing the money away
I told them the same thing. Oh well, I think I'll get the celeron
