I'm having a serious game drought here. I decided I wanted to play another game and I can't find anything that I like. Last 3 games I've tried I disliked almost immediately.

I've decided that the unifying factor in the different types of games I like is usually the upgrade process. I like building an empire, I like upgrading a character, even getting better guns in FPS games, etc.

But there are very few games where it's engaging enough for me to play through twice, and with some of the strategy games, I get bored once I'm done with all of the upgrades and I'm just knocking people off one region/city/planet/arbitrarily-distinct-map-area at a time.

Anyway, I was thinking I should try another RPG. I've played Mass Effect and Oblivion all the way through and enjoyed them. Played Fallout 3. I played The Witcher for about 5 minutes before I decided I hated it. Maybe I should give that one another try.

Anyone else have any good ideas? I may have missed some games from the previous few years.

Speaking of upgrades - I tried playing Burnout: Paradise, and I immediately hated it. Challenges are fun, but all I really want is to unlock a new turbocharger. Fuck your lack of upgrades.

Already mentioned that in the first post. I beat Oblivion a long time ago.

I definitely played one of those, but it looks like there are two. I may have skipped the second one.

Get a 60GB PS3 and you'll have RPGs for fucking years with PSX/PS2/PS3 library.

I'm gonna try Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, since I haven't touched a Clancy game in years.

Then I'm going to try The Witcher again.

Although The Witcher sounds like a pretty humongous game, I've heard from many people that it's really fucking boring. Another thing I've learned is to never try very hard to like a game. If it just doesn't appeal to you, don't force it. I've tried playing Fallout 3 at least 5 times, and I just can't get into it. I'm sure I'll give it another try though

Oh, I agree. That's why I gave up on the last few games I've tried. There's a new 'enhanced' version of the Witcher that's supposed to have made some improvements, so I'll give that a try.

Sweet. That's all I really want in a game. Pixellated nipples.

Fable: The Lost Chapters, Neverwinter Nights, Warcraft III? Only ones I can think of for the PC that are really RPGs

Then again those are the only ones I own for the PC lol

Suppose I could try Fable. I heard it was kind of gay, but :dunno:

Fallout 3 is absolutely amazing if you put in the time to let the game progress.

doing terrorist hunts with friends is a ton of fun. i played the SHIT out of vegas 1, but didn't play vegas 2 as much. it's more like vegas 1.5, but still a great game (especially if you didn't play the first one)

Bioshock sounds perfect. FPS/RPG, lots of character leveling/upgrading, weapon upgrading. Since its very difficult to find everything during your first run-through, its fun to use a completely different set of plasmids, and upgrade a different set of weapons during run 2. Plus your main enemy is an objectivist, how can you hate on that??

I hate the art style in Bioshock, and I hate survival horror themed games (and movies). I've seen all of the screens, and I just can't bring myself to get excited about it.
