I've purchased a game or two on Steam before (HL2 a long time ago), but there's something about digital delivery that makes me uneasy. I don't know if it's the lack of physical items, having to download your games, or what, but something bugs me about getting more than the occasional game this way.

What's the chance of a Steam account being accidentally deleted? Also, I've never had to do this, but is it easy to recover account credentials?

I always purchase through steam. I have had my Steam since about 2003 (When it first came out). I bought CS and another game on it and then never played them. In 07 I couldnt remember shit about the account except user name and it was easy getting the account info back etc.

I love Steam. Its great to play games w/ friends and stay in groups etc. Its nice. Before Steam I had to use Xfire to connect with friends etc. This is 100% easier.

Most of my games are through Steam. It's just more convenient, especially when you start getting a ton of games.

deleted by their database? i'd say it's rare, but im sure they have backups of backups for situations like this.

i had to recover my account since i had forgotten my password and even my username. (i hadnt used my account since the days of HL2 and was on a new computer) you have to go through a different steam site. you sign up there, and verify your account. it got resolved within a day.

Yeah. I wonder if anyone has ever accidentally had their account removed from the database, and in turn lost the right to download the games they purchased.

    That would suck.

I won't buy it if its not on Steam <.<'

Steam helps with my minimalist approach to life. Sure it was nice having pretty boxes and discs. But it just became clutter in the long run. And installing a bunch of disc games, especially multiple-disc based games sucks so bad compared to installing through steam.

If i have the option to buy the retail box, thats what I do.

Downloading from steam destroys my bandwidth.

:werd: Digital distribution (Steam mostly) has give the PC platform more life.

Every game I buy on PC is done through Steam. There is no need to have an endless number of boxes eating up space only to house game disks that I have to worry about scratching or breaking.

As for someone losing their steam account I don't think I've ever heard of that happening

for me the best part of switching to digital purchased games was the auto-updates. that alone sold me. i hated manually updating games like BF2.

dont forget about pre-installing games before release date.

    Steam > *

I like collecting console games because alot of the RPGs I have go up in value. I have a huge RPG library back to the PSX days, and obviously theirs a huge resale market for console games.

For PC though, I fuck having the disks. First there is pretty much no resale market for PC games. Since you never need the disks to actually play the games it get's annoying holding onto them also. Steam makes it so you can easily update the game, and install it on any computer down the line instead of keeping track of disks.

The chance of your steam account being deleted is pretty much non-existant. And it only takes a day or two to get it back when it gets hacked as long as you know the original information you signed up with.

My nerd collection trumps yours :o Although you do have a sealed FFIX, could be worth something one day. Green Labels aren't worth shit though and I have a few green labels too, I think just FFT.

I have the original Lunar:SSS and Lunar:EB limited editions though :o

nahh neither FF9's are sealed. just the one disk had problems, bought a new one. then realized it wasn't the disk it was the PS2 i played it with...

And I have only been slowly buying them for the past year. I was still shocked when I snagged FF7 for $25

and I dont collect them to keep them on a shelf, I play them. I wanna beat them. only one on that list I complete is FF8

Shitty camera phone but this is what I have:
Alundra, both Lunars, Final Fantasy 7 and 9, Xenogears, Azure Dreams, Vagrant Story, Persona 2, Dragon Warrior 7, Star Ocean 2. I use to have 2 copies of Suikoden 2 and Valkyrie Profile but I sold them for a ton of money :o
Pretty much played all the other main ones but sold some of them when I was younger.

    Then PS2 also:

Top will be PS3 when some more good RPGs come out. Right now I only have 2 PS3 games  Do need to pick up Eternal Sonata though. I still have like 5 of those PS2 games to get through before even touching PS3 and PC games though.
