Does this irk anyone besides me? PC games, for the most part, tend to be between $39.99-$49.99 MSRP at launch. Lately though, some games for PC have seen a price jump. MW2, $60 for the PC, Assassins Creed II coming out soon on PC is $60, and Star Trek online is listed with $60 MSRP at a few places. Now I know it's only three games that I can come up with, but this is just the beginning.

I was a little saddened when I saw that MW2 for the consoles had a lower price than the PC counter part at a couple of stores also. I always liked gaming on PC in part to not only better controls for shooters, but also a lower price. This just kind of shits on that for me.

I pay for the games that are worth it to me :dunno: and this includes any game I want to play online..which is really all I play a lot of games for.

Yep, it pisses me off. I just pirate those games. The $59.99 ones are shitty console ports anyway (except Star Trek Online, dunno what that's about), it's a ripoff.

get people to stop pirating games, maybe they wouldnt have to raise prices.

prices have to go up as games cost more and more to make.

Steam should always be cheaper though. :o

While true, the amount of piracy on PC games literally strangles that market. I'm willing to bet that if piracy wasn't so bad, they wouldn't have raised the prices just yet.

Star Trek Online was only ever 59.99 for the Collectors / Digital Deluxe and it's at 49.99 now, the regular game was a standard 49.99 and is now 39.99.

Are you perhaps confusing the regular version with Collectors Edition? Mass Effect 2 and other games haven't yet made the PC price jump, so hopefully it doesn't happen all around. I didn't realize MW2 and Ass Creed II were, that's shitty.

PC game prices have been $50 bucks for what, at least 15 years now. The nominal value of a $50 dollar game 15 years ago at 1.5% annual inflation is $62.51. Looks like they are just keeping pace with inflation.

Its retarded, if developers had any clue, they would LOWER the prices on their PC versions of games. I would pirate a lot less games I like if I could buy em for $30 at release, and I think a lot of others would too. Bumping that to $60 just makes people who are on the fence not buy it, or pirate it.

PC Developers would make more money selling games in volume at a lower price.

I buy any pc game I'm going to play for more than a few minutes, regardless of price

    BUT

I also buy some shit i would normally just pirate to try out if it is cheap

It seems like PC games are often excluded from sales too. Like when some places had MW2 for 39.99 for ps3/360, the PC price was still 49.99 (or whatever retail was)
