    Posting from my wife's computer.

I decided years ago I as going to go with a Mac when my pc died. Well..today it kicked the bucket.

    What I'm looking for:

I'd like one that was set up for use in music recording.
    I'm used to microsoft office.
There are a couple of other PC programs I'd like to be able to run...do I need specific software to run Windows programs? Or is that something that would come standard.
    I want a laptop.
I want a lot of storage and lots of speed (for recording).

So from that...can somebody point me to a model...and possibly a place to get a good price on whatever that model would be?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

check amazon or macmall... you can normally get stuff like $100 cheaper

if you have anything with firewire, or know you're going to be using firewire, get a macbook pro instead...

If your music recording interface isn't FireWire, MacBook.
    If it is, MacBook Pro.

You can either dual boot Windows and os x OR Use Vmware Fusion and create a virtual windows machine (Probably easiest and most efficient).

He most likely wanted the matte 15" screen and FireWire ports

Tapped out right now. Spent a lot of money on the ongoing restoration of my 90 years old home the last few months.

My wife suggested I buy a PC for 1200$. I said fuck no...I'm done with PC's. It would be a waste of money anyway if I was just going to turn around and buy a Mac as soon as I had the money. And unfortunately, I can't wait until I get my tax return in March or April to get one.

And yes...it takes that long to get my return. As an independent contractor in production...it'll take a lot longer to get all my tax stuff from all the different organizations I worked for.
