Okay, that's just mean. You like PCs, why are you trying to fuck up his machine?

    Cool programs for PCs...hmm...everything?

PCs and Macs have pretty much all the same software now, on account of using the same hardware; once the different-hardware-architecture roadblock was removed, it was easy to change the system calls in programs so they could work with either OSX, Linux, or Windows. Most of the software you can buy now is available for all three OSes, if you know where to look.

I don't know where to look, though, so don't ask me.

most of these (if not all) should be free:

    firefox -- browser
foobar2000 -- powerful music player (use winamp if you'd rather have shiny buttons out of the box)
gaim -- aim/icq/msn/yahoo/irc/jabber (some are in need of updating though, you could use miranda IM as an alternative)
    xchat -- free irc client
videolan's vlc -- plays just about every video format ever
    utorrent -- bittorrent client
    filezilla -- ftp client
cdburnerxp -- free alternative to nero
daemon tools -- virtual cdrom drives
    irfanview -- image viewer
openoffice -- free clone of microsoft office
    grisoft's avg -- free anti-virus
zonelabs' zonealarm -- free personal firewall
lavasoft's ad-aware -- malware scanner and removal utility
spybot s&d -- same as above
spywareblaster -- sort of like malware vaccination
quicktime alternative -- functionality without bloat
    real alternative -- see above
defilerpak -- imo the best codec pack out there
7zip -- like winrar and winzip but free, can't create archives in some formats though
ultravnc -- access/control your computer remotely (through a web interface too if you can deal with java)
the gimp -- like photoshop but free ("the gnu image manipulation program")

as for using non-microsoft themes, see this link and look into a "uxtheme.dll" hack -- http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=339820 -- you can find good non-microsoft visual styles at deviantART, a very popular one (and the one i use personally) being foton. the creator of foton has also made skins for other applications like winamp, msn messenger, rainlendar, objectbar xp, etc if you choose to use those programs (i don't because i don't like them personally, too much shiny chrome and not enough functionality)

pm me if you need any more help
