Any reason why my PB is doing this? I just got my external HD sent over to me with all my data. Its only letting me read and not write anything onto the HD. Any help is appreciated.

it is in NTFS, to be able to read and write you need to reformat it into either a FAT32 (read and write on both Mac and PC) or in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format.

:ugh: i don't think so, i've had an 80GB ext hdd formatted as one, in FAT32. the thing about FAT32 is that you can't transfer files larger than 4GB i think it is.

ok guys how about my last question. I looked up the drives info on disk utility and it says that is currently on Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. But i still cant write anything onto the drive. I have all my pics, docs and vids here from my old PC. Dont really wanna loose them.

in order for both the PC and mac to read/write from it - it needs to be in FAT32 format (ms-dos)...

if it is in mac os journaled then windows wont recognize it.
