Does anyone use paypal to sell shit on their website? How does it work? I'm setting up some buttons now. Does the customer click the button and a payment is sent to you, along with an email stating "customer x bought item y", so you then send whatever to them?

My item is actually downloadable but I didn't see a way for the customer to simply download whatever upon payment. I assume I have to physically email every customer a download link.

You can do the same with PayPal.

I can't offer much help here since I don't have an account with them anymore however you are on the right track. In the merchant center of your PayPal account you can mess with all the preferences for your checkout screen.

Use their PayPay express wizard to create a buy now button and enter the price you are selling your item for. Then just put it on your site. Once someone clicks the button they will be taken to your secure checkout page on paypal.com and it will give them the option to sign up or just pay with their credit card. The page will have all your details like email and company name and you can even edit the colors and header image to match your site.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I just rolled out of bed. :o

Thanks, I think I have it going pretty well. I'm gonna set it to bring up a page that gives them the download link after purchasing.. but then I'd have to change the link every so often.

There's probably a free script that you could use to give you unique download links.

This will definitely come in handy, although I am only selling one product atm, may be a little overkill.

I gotta find something to mask the download link methinks.
