I heard the UFC let him go!

I was hoping he was going to get himself into better shape and up his ground game a bit.

yeah I never saw him as a top hw and I think the fight with AA showed that.

He's okay and he has room to improve, I don't think he was necessarily worthless in the UFC :hsugh:

he's not useless. only one of his fights went the distance -- that alone makes for good TV. he also likes to fight standing and can knock out a bull elephant, which is also perfect for the UFC and their fans

he's better than what was shown in that fight. the AA fight isn't indicative of his real fighting skill. they were both throwing leather and both ate a few in their short exchange, but buentello just got caught square on the chin

I just dont see him being much more then a door into the ufc, like riggs is. He might weed out some crap and would eat it from the good ones.

lol yeah, just because a fighter doesn't appear to use his ground game exclusively doens't mean they don't train it like crazy. I think Buentello is kind of like Tim Sylvia in terms of style but not quite as good.

well I acknowledge that they are not as skilled as lets say the pride heavyweights, but some of the fights are fun to watch.
