Went down to Pattaya, Thailand for a day. Didn't really do much, I was put off from all the middle-aged men walking around with hookers and ladyboys. Anyway, they had a brand new shopping center and had like 7-8floors so I went up to the top and took pics. These are untouched. I threw it into lightroom to see what LR would change but didn't save it, but LR changed a lot of stuff. I still need practice taking pictures so I want to learn the basic before I get into editting.

My own C&C is 1) I need to crop out the junk in the top right and left. White balance is off. I can't tell if it's not sharp or a tad bit blurry. I forget what I focused on. 2) The lights on the ships are distracting and the light on some annoying sign on the left side.

Overall though, what do you guys think? Decent view, decent color? Intersting pic in the slightest?

    1. I like the colors in this one more, but I would have made sure to get that roof out of the upper right corner, and mayne come down a bit on the framing, more city, less sky

    2. Same for the framing, less sky, more city, and the colors on this one seem more bland / pinkish..

Thailand is such a beautiful place. When I was there, I was a DSLR noob.

I want to go back so bad.

The problem with these, in my opinion, is that there are too many unrelated elements. Night, lights, sky, scattered boats, a curving shoreline, trees, city street/square, etc. My eye moves from one to another of these elements almost chaotically. It's jarring.

i agree with asherman, it's a snapshot. you're documenting a scene and not trying to convey an idea or focus on a subject.

also, there's nothing here that gives me any context. i wouldn't have guessed it was thailand unless you told me so. you're in an exotic environment and you're taking a picture at a pretty generic shopping center? then again, it might be an interesting pic if you made this juxtaposition obvious.

Yeah, almost everyone gets sick the first couple of times they go to Thailand. STAY AWAY FROM STREET VENDORS!

And don't eat Thai before you get back on a plane going back where you came from.

I'm going back later this year :h5:

maybe I'll post some of my Thailand photos.
