no sandisc, no care
Patriot makes good shit. Always does well in benchmarks. I don't have any of their SD cards, but have a couple flash drives from them.
i buy the normal class 6 shit for like $30 or whatever. the d90's buffer is enough for me. i don't need to blast more than 9 raws at a time
it is not about speed, it is about reliability. The first time your card goes to crap and you lost your images, you will want to donkeypunch yourself for saving a few bucks.
Stick around, there is at least 1 post every 6 months or so in heer where someone is trying to remove images from a corrupt card
what brands? haven't had a bad SD or SDHC card (knock on wood) in the years I've been using them
i stick with a-data, transcend, kingston, etc.
ok, so the general consensus is don't trust anything that doesn't say sandisc on it?
but patriot does suck. lots of shitty cards
this is pretty much law for me, and I only shoot for fun. I explain it to myself like this whenever I see a cheap card - I chose to buy a 900 dollar camera for better pictures and a 900 dollar lens for the best I can take with my camera, yet, I am will to choose a lesser band of memory to save 20 bucks. makes all teh rest of the money spent on capturing great photos, a stupid choice
what in the fuck would need a 16 gig card for anyway...talk about all your eggs and your neighbor's eggs in 1 basket
although I am starting to consider picking up a Kingston 133 here on the cheap...they're 35 bucks at Fry's (8GB CF). I've got a buddy who uses them exclusively and has never had an issue (so he claims). Amazon's best deal on a Sandisk Extreme III 8GB CF card is $50.
sandisk had rebates on their cards if you buy 3 .... my buddy and i picked em up at about $30 a piece after rebates
my sandisk 512mb from 5 years ago still works like a champ.
reason enough for me
i bought an ADATA SDHC 16gb card for $45 shipped. it says its class 6, but i cant get more than 3-4 continous shots before it starts to lag.
for the price, im happy with it. but my next card will definately be a faster read type than this and more than likely sandisk
