I have a *very* small puncture in my relativly new rear tire. I'm not going to plug it, but what about patching it from the inside? i'd hate to have to get rid of a fresh tire for such a small puncture...

motorcycle tires dont have flat portions of them like car tires do.

Just like how you can't patch the side wall of a tire, you can't patch the curvature of a bike tire.

Plus, you're only on 2 tires. Do you really want that kind of risk?

i don't mess with moto tires. last thing in the world you need is a blowout on a bike.

it sucks but time for a new tire imo

they're not stressed nearly as much, and if your bike tire fails you won't die.

When I picked up a nail on a tire with 1500 miles on it I asked lots of knowlegable folks what they recommended. I also queried the tire manufacturer sites. Bottom line - they all said your life is too valuable to trade it for a $1 patch or a $100 tire. They also said any patch, no matter how professionally done, weakens the tire. As much as it hurt financially, I changed the tire.

what? you can absolutely patch a motorcycle tire. if done properly, ie from the inside, it's plenty safe for a commute tire. it isn't something I'd want to get extremely hot though.

I wouldn't want a tire that came with conditions and considerations.

    Exactly.
I don't want any parts on my bike that should be good enough
i can imagine that losing a tire at 70 mph in traffic would be a pretty bad thing, so personally,,,,i'd spring for a new tire if it was my bike

im actually trying to get rid of a dunlop roadsmart 180/55 tire that just needs some patching or plug if someone wants to go thru that trouble, the hole is small and was from like an industrial size staple. Tire was only like a few weeks old too. If anyone is in california ill give it away for free....
