A&P part time rate?

    hey guys! I was offered a part time job here in socal and I was wondering was is the going rate for a wedding photographer's assistant? Setting up lighting, group shots, and carrying equipments :ugh: They're offering me $12/hour. Is that good? I feel like im being jipped :rofl:

    sounds pretty average to me if you aren't bringing any equipment or shooting

    I think it sounds ok, plus your payment will also be in the form of experience and knowledge. Just don't get taken advantage of.

    $12/hour is good for an equipment monkey. If you are going to be doing any assistant shooting (covering other angles, table shots, etc...) then the rate is usually a little higher. Perhaps when you've proven yourself they'll hand you a camera and give you a raise.

    $12/hour in CA is like $8/hour elsewhere in the country? It's better than nothing.

    i work at a wedding photography studio, and i believe we pay our assistants $20 an hour. and i'm about 80% sure. dont quote me on it tho. :(
