my shop is weak in comparison. as long as they get my sub on time i dont care. theres another shop nearby that has a ton of stuff in it.

i still really wanna open up a comic/video game store.

I have a million shops around me, but I only goto this one in downtown dallas, place is super clean and the owner is one of the guys that got Capes! Free Comic Book Day event going (basically a mini-convention in a park). With Wizard World Texas getting the axe, it's basically the last decent event to meet creators in texas (Waid, Kirkman, Gail Simone, Daniel Way, Greg Pak, and a bunch of others all showed up and hung out).

Nice shop! Cool that they display ASG on that longbox.

We have several around here, but I just go the closest one (who also happens to be the smallest, but what a nice little shop he has). If he has a title with jacked up copies I'll go to another one, really nice guys as well.

Dude! I always thought if I could open up a comic book shop with an arcade, it would make bank. Find some decent sized neighborhood with a school or two, work out an arrangement with some foodie place, maybe even have some computers set up with games already loaded up to play online (for a fee, of course). I got so many ideas about that shit, I just need the capital.

Still need 10% of the loan, and you realize how much it'll cost to start something like that? You realize how hard it would be to start a comic store from scratch with no existing framework? You'll have to get insurance, pay rent, any remodeling to get it up to code, product...you would need tens of thousands of dollars just to GET the bank loan.

You ever ran your own business? Didn't think so, stfu.

that is a really nicely organized and clean store kurupt.

but yeah, as for the store. the reason you dotn see a lot of comic shops is cause its a hard market to get into. not to mention if you want to have bins like most stores you have a lot of inventory just sitting around that may never ever be sold. also, banks as much as sthey say are trying to help people spend are being even more cautious these days. small business is failing so hard :(

yeah right now my guy is going through a divorce so hes hurting financially. and i was just kidding about the load thing. I understand that you need to be able to provide a back issues supply or no ones gonna start coming to your shop. And loans take initial capital.

LOL Cabbie. I just read your facebook "25" notes thing and loled that you had so much info on started that business.

My friends and i always wanted to start a bar/comic shop. But mostly the ideas come when we've been drinking.

LOL. my local comic book store is nothing like that. It's a small dungeon of a place where there is shit piled everywhere in a way that no one could figure out anything, but the owner knows it to a T. I prefer it that way actually. Feels cozy and real.

Love the organization of that shop- and the vintage books under glass is a nice touch. My lcbs doesn't deal with vintage books at all.

Although I did get my latest copy of Amazing Fantasy 15 there, but only because he knows Kurt Busiek. This was his copy- he even signed a copy of Superman 654 which he was working on when I made the purchase:

Let's just say I paid less than it's fair value :)

It's not the nicest of my copies- one that I let go in the early nineties for 5 grand would be CGC'able at likely an 8.5 or 9. That book would be worth a lot of money now.
