What do you guys think about the Para Ordnance Warthog, specifically the Regal. Pics posted below.

I'm trying to narrow down my choices for a CCW gun, and as of now I'm down to 3: Para Warthog, HK USPc .40 & Sig P229R DAK .40 (of which I realize is the largest of this trio.) I really really really like the P229, but it IS the biggest of the bunch, and wont be AS easily concealable... but for some reason, this Warthog keeps catching my eye. I don't know a lot about it, besides that it packs an ENORMOUS punch for how small it is.

So, with all obvious replies aside (personal preference, go to the range and rent them, yada yada yada), what are your thoughts? Have you had the chance to fire one? Do you own one? What have you heard, good or bad? All input appreciated.

Accord, I know your answer, HK sack-rider. So keep it on-topic about the Warthog... :kdubbd: :bigthumb:

I like Para's, just not that one. :hs:

I would go with the P229 :bigthumb:

double stacked? 10+1? How wide is that? It doesn't say on the website.

I just can't imagine that being comfortable to grip.

i dont know how big your hands are, but from just looking at the pic i reckon there is no way my big hand could grip that comfortably...

First, I think the problems associated with small 1911's is very overblown.

More to the point, I have shot a double stack Para and I absolutely despise them! It is incredibly uncomfortable to me. There is no real shape to the front strap because it's so wide.

I dunno, I think Glocks suck for comfort too and lots of people love them....

That said, there aren't many other options that let you carry 10+1 of .45 in a small package.

I've got a G17. I don't mind Glocks... but I'm a diverse man. I don't like to have a lot of the same thing. I can't buy the same case of beer twice, I have to try something new. It's in my nature.

    Not very large. Probably medium-sized.

That's kind of why it appeals to me so much.

I can't say I'm a fan yet. Not that its ugly or anything... I like the looks.
Plus, I've got a 9mm. I'd like to try something else for once. Diversification baby.

Glock 29 packs more power and the same number of shots into roughly the same size with absolutely none of the reliability concerns of a tiny 1911.

I actually don't have a hard on for .45 nor do I think its the amazing round that many people seem to think it is. If you like the sig and shoot it well go for it. No adult male should have trouble concealing a 229 with a quality belt and holster. I can hide a 226 under a tshirt easily enough even. Don't get too sucked into the caliber thing though, they are all handguns, they all suck to very similiar degrees.

Oh I'm not. I've already gotten a few people in WMD to :ugh: because I beat the Shot Placement > Caliber issue to a bloody pulp. :bigthumb:

If I were to have a favorite of the 3, it would be .40.

This isn't me at all. Not that I feel I have to prove it to you or anything, but this next gun will be my carry gun. So I do take the choice seriously. I love Glocks, don't get me wrong, I just don't want my next gun to be a Glock. I'm sure down the road I will pick up a bite-sized Glock for carry.

I think I've eliminated the Warthog for now. It's possible I might want to buy one in the future, but not now. I'm down to the HK and Sig now. Kinda leaning toward the P229. But I drool over HKs a lot too. Damn... I need more money! :bigthumb:

Not the first time I've heard this.
And to be honest. I don't care for the Glock trigger much either.
It's not the feel of the pull. Its the safety piece that sticks out. After a couple hours at the range that one spot on my finger that always makes contact with that safety part is always sore. What a pussy finger. :bigthumb:

I always hear this, but it's 99% of the time the double action pull. I don't understand why people use the double action at all. I'd either carry it condition 1, or get the LEM trigger. The HK single action trigger is pretty nice (to me).

What I need to do is borrow my buddy's USP .40 (not compact, but its close enough for trigger feel) and rent a P229 .40 and shoot them one after another at the range. Probably the only way I can decide a difference.

So you guys feel the P229 is sufficient for a carry gun? It's smaller than the P229, but its not a Kel-tec or something of that nature. Its also pretty heavy for how small it is.

TONS of people ccw a 229. It was going to be my choice if I hadn't had liked the USPc.

edit: actually I wanted a 220 carry come to think of it.

The P220 is a larger gun, is it not? I thought that was a full-size .45.
    Well, it IS a .45, but I thought it was a full-size.
Screw it, you know what I mean.

    *Edit* Research, then post.
I see now, they have a P220 Carry.

:werd: A 229SAS would be my next carry gun if I had the extra cash.
