Just got my CCW a couple of weeks ago. I already own a FM HI-Power 9mm. I was looking at the Para-ordiance Hawg9 or the similar 3" models for around $799. Any ideas on a compact 3-4" 1911 style?

I'm kind of weary about Kimber's. I did shoot a .45 Kimber Custom II 5", which was nice. The dealer I got my FM Hi-Power from was badmouthing Kimbers after I told him about shooting the Custom II.

His story goes that he was dealer for Kimber since he started and they were very good guns until 5 or so years ago when every other one he sold was being returned and sent back to Kimber for repairs (don't know the exact repairs) but it has kind of kept me away from it.

Can you change my opinion on them?

I have the kimber ultra carry and have ~ 500 rds through it. i've had zero problems aside from pre-mature slide lock back. More than likely its mags fault allowing the bullet to slide a little bit forward thereby depressing the slide lock plunger. I either need stiffer mag springs or file a bit off the plunger.

Aside from that, the gun has been dead reliably, no FTFs, FTE's, or any other kind of malfunction. And its accurate as all fuck.

A buddy has the nightHawg in .45 and loves it. The grip is a little too short for me though.

Stay away from Para Ordnance and stay away from the Warthog or any of its variances.
    No bueno.

    Fixed.

I had a Warthog in .45 and I was extremely disappointed.
Extremely bulky and heavy for its size. Very uncomfortable to shoot. And not very reliable.
One in every 4 or 5 rounds would jam. I've heard this is because the slide is just too short for a 1911 and it slams back too quickly, but I don't know why others can figure it out but not Para.

My main factors for getting rid of it were because it was too heavy and uncomfortable to carry around longer than a couple hours, and because I didn't trust it.

actually i was correct the first time.

The object of my sentence is "your use" and that object "is overwhelming"

Now i could have said "the details ARE overwhelming" but that is a completely different sentence.

My sentence is similar to "Your possession of 10 million cars is amazing"
"is amazing" refers to your possession, not 10 million cars.

as for the rest of your post. I guess time will tell how my buddy fairs with his.

Wow, I just read that review and I am surprised I haven't found that yet. Thanks, gonna try to see if any local dealers have any to look at.

I do carry the Hi-Power but I am pretty skinny about 150lbs so even while wearing a hoodie it still shows a little buldge. If you are looking for the buldge it can be noticable.

A buddy of mine just bought an EMP and he says he highly recommends it, he loves it.
I don't know any details about it though, and have not had the chance to go to the range with him to shoot it.
I have held it however, and its a very slick little gun. Looks promising.
