Verizon is an absolutely TERRIBLE telecom company for 2 reasons, and 2 reasons alone.

    1. They cripple EVERYTHING.
    2. Nickel and diming beyond belief.

man, i hope that this phone lives up to the hype. i love to see more quality handsets available. i was kind of disappointed in the Blackberry Storm, so it'll be nice if someone else can come up with a slick phone to compete with the iPhone.

oh, and don't forget it has wifi and a web browser based off of webkit (same basis for Safari on the iPhone and the browser on Android). :)

damn, that looks hot. pinch type interface for zooming web pages. weighted scrolling, so you can flick up or down to scroll faster (can't do that on the Storm i believe). multitasking looks pretty slick on it how a full screen app shrinks and slides off to the side while the next one comes in from the top.

verizon is FTW. you pay for the service. i get service in the NYC subway system. my friends nextel dropped to zero bars at the bottom of the stairs, and "no service" 10 feet past the stairs....tell me what carrier gets ridiculous service like that

edit: with sprint back 3 years ago. to make a call i had to walk out of my room, out my front door and two houses down to the corner of my blcok....just to make a call. sprint has come a bit of a way, but my parents still have them and they dont get service in a shitton of places

Yeah, I bought a G1 and took it back after a week specifically so that I could get this phone in a month or two.

Also, the G1's battery life made me want to kill kittens. Seriously, the thing would die by noon if I used it.

If purchased, would one be able to bring this phone over for use on Verizon's network? Considering they are both CDMA phones?

I have an LG Dare, and would love to pick up this phone to replace -
would I be able to use all features, such as internet (not wifi), picture messaging, etc.?

You'll most likely have to wait till it comes out so you can ensure it will be unlockable (which it should)...but CDMA to CDMA shouldn't be an issue.

Everything I see about this phone is positive. I'm glad for good iPhone competition finally on US shores. Hell, I bet most of 3.0 firmware is I'm response to the Pre.

But how many people are going to be willing to switch carriers and eat an ETF for the Pre? Not to mention the Pre is expected to drop sometime around the summer (?), around the same time a revised iPhone launch in June. Either way, should be a good anti-iPhone phone

Awesome phone, but too bad the only carrier is Sprint. I used to have sprint for work and it was by FAR the worst carrier EVER. We went from Sprint to VZW and then ATT. VZW was the best with coverage, although ATT is pretty close.
