So I plan on giving someone an external HD for christmas and I want to paint the enclosure. The enclosure is aluminum and I'm going to follow
    http://www.overclockers.com/how-to-paint-steel-aluminum-plastic-and-acrylic/
but if there's a better guide out there i'd like to know.
Does anyone have any tips or experience with something like this?
I ideally want to do more than one color i.e. do a spray stencil of the person's name, would it be better to do a couple of coats with the writing as the base and then put cutout-letters to block the paint for the 2nd color or would it be better to use a stencil? Also if you guys have tips on wet sanding that'd be greatly appreciated too

edit: how durable would the finish be?

there are probably better answers in that dyi indoor subforum. someone there should have experience.

or those case mod sites/forums.. they probably have tips for this type of stuff too.
