I have a crosman air rifle that I want to play around with and try to paint camo. Anybody have any tips how to do this? I think I remember seeing a certain brand of paint that came in 4 or 5 different colors specifically for painting camo.

Anyone care to help? I remember seeing an EDU thread on arfcom I think.

I think you use Duracoat IIRC.

I was going to just pickup whatever brand it was that made the colors that were actually mixed for painting stuff camo. I think it was Krylon, but I'm not sure.

I *think* you have to mask it off and do it yourself if I'm not mistaken.

Brownells Alumahyde II comes in coyote, desert tan, earth brown, od green, etc. I just put some on my AK and so far it seems great, no real metal prep necessary, seems tough, cheap, looks really good.

Of course Duracoat does have their camopaks with all of the paints for certain themes like urban tiger stripe, desert storm, woodland signature and such so if you want more than 2 colors it would probably be cheaper than alumahyde.

Definetly going to do more than one color. I'd like to lay a base coat of one color down then go over it with 2 or 3 other colors. The gun is plastic/metal (It's an airgun).

I just want to practice so if I get a nicer gun in the future I may try to do it to that if it turns out nice.

Couldn't you practice on most anything made of a similar material?

Yea which I probably will before I actually paint the airgun, but I want to see what I can do with something that represents a real gun. What better than a 50 dollar air rifle :dunno:

Please make sure to mask off the sliding surfaces before you paint.

    that's great...

They look nice but doesn't look like they have a digital camo that's the same as the above gun. Do you know if those templates are reusable?

NVM no they aren't reusable, they are just templates cut from blue painters tape. I'm really interested to see if I could do something similar using painters tape myself. It'd be time consuming as fuck but it might be a fun project since I don't have a job and school isn't started yet :dunno:

This is a google image I found of one of those GAP templates. I think I might order one up, they are cheap and it looks like it'd be a fun little project. I got the gun taken apart I think I'm gonna do the stock and barrel only at this point just to try it out.
