Pain in bicepts when on "heavy" bb press eccentric

    heavy in quotes cause I bench like a little girl. Anyway, on the first eccentric movement I come down real slow and past the half way point down to my chest I'm getting a really bad pain in my biceps :ugh:. wtf? I drop to nipple level, and I'm going a little wider than a thumb from smooth. I tried going wider last night, and it seemed to be worse, but this was after many sets of cg. This is at like 90% of my 1rm... Anyone heard of this? Was thinking of taking a day on the weekends to do 1.5x 1rm negatives :dunno:.

    Also, do you want a big bench or do you want to look good? Doing heavy ass singles and triple isn't going to make you look good bro.

    I want a combo of strength/size. I've been playing with high volume, but high % of 1RM sets. ie. 6-9 sets of 4 @ 85-90% of 1rm...

    Well there is your problem, that's a lot of volume at that high of a percentage of your 1rm. I don't see the point in doing anything less then a set of 5 or so if you're not competing.
