Hey guys, I recently picked up my dads GTO after he had passed away last week in MD. Drove the car all the way home, decided to wash, claybar and buff it a little bit.

So, great... I think, the car now looks good from 10ft away and shines like no other. But there is still some haze, burnt in water spots and other nasty stuff left behind. (see this thread for reference on what i'm speaking of, it's not my car though... http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=3725229)

What should I use to get all of that stuff out? A good cutting compound or what? I'm open to any suggestions, because when I bought this car back in 04 the paint was flawless and now it's pretty rough upclose and it's driving me nuts.

The detailing EDU ought to answer most of your questions. Start with the least aggressive polish and move up as needed.
