so, if I were to go the route of cutting off the A2 sight and re-using that gas block.....i'd remove the pins, take off the flash suppressor, slide the new rail on and install.......but......
then how the fuck would one put the gas block and pins back in? It's a 10.5" SBR barrel, and I was looking at 9.2" rails so it would cover the cut-off gas block.

im confused. don't want to drop this money until I am sure this shit is possible :o

    EXAMPLE:

I want this covered, and 9.2" rail will do that. but how the fuck would I get the block back on....?

You shouldn't need to remove the flash hider or gas block when installing the FF rail. I think you can put them back on once you have installed the barrel nut.

the Yankee Hill one you have to :hs:

have to take them both off

  4. I haven't actually done it. If you need to remove the FSB you have to hammer out the taper pins. They only go out one way, so look it up and make sure you're hammering them out correctly. Support the barrel too so your not making the barrel take the force of the hammer blows. Also, does that rail you pictured have enough clearance to fit over the gas block?

The gas block just goes on the way it came off, and you just hammer the taper pins back in.

yeah I know how to do all of that. I am just wondering how it will be possible to put it back ON after the new rail is installed. The 9.2" rail will be covering where the gas block will go :hsd:

guess I didn't make that clear

  6. Oh. :o Do you have the install instructions for the rail? How does the rail attach to the barrel nut? I'd guess you have to install the barrel nut and then put the gas system back together, and then slide the rail over the whole thing. That's the only way you could get it back together.

that's it. its the barrel nut that wouldn't fit over the gas block and the FS. makes sense now

    you're a godsend

  8. Thanks. Keesh pointed it out before me though. :)

Generally you install the barrel, then the barrel nut (which could be part of the rail/handguard system) making sure everything is aligned key hole - gas tube - gas block.

And now you would install/reinstall your gas block and like MG already said the pins will only hammer out and in one way.

You should be able to now slide the remaining of the rail over your gas block and attach it to the barrel nut assembly. Throw on an end cap if you want and you're done.
