Thinking about picking up a Kel-Tec tomorrow. I know the .380 has more stopping power, but the .32 will be easier to handle. Which and why?

    I'd go P3AT. And someday, I will.

Oh yea, and why would I? Because I've got a thought stuck in my head that .380 is bare minimum for a defensive round, even though I know shot placement > most.

    642 :big grin:

Both the .380 and .32 suck for defense. The p3at has more problems out of the box than the p32, the p32 has a slide lock. Toss a coin :big grin:

Already have a 642, want something for even deeper concealment. P32 has a slide lock? I didn't know that. Do they come in HC?

You got any websites with .380 performance? I'm kind of curious to how it compares with something like 9mm

The .380. With either gun it's unlikely you'll be shooting it much, so you might as well go for power.

I checked out brass fetcher and it looks like most SD rounds penetrated just below 12 inches with light clothing.

    P3AT would be my choice.

You can also wait for the Ruger LCP - identical P3AT copy with more features (slide lock, better looking grip). I'm not sure how much more it will be over the P3AT though.

Same here. I hate Mr. Ruger and I'm not a fan of their autoloaders....but they work. :sad2:

  14. Pick whichever pistol you can throw harder. That might do more damage than the bullets.

The easiest resource is always tacticalforums.com DocGKR hangs out there and there's alot of great stuff posted. http://www.tacticalforums.com/cgi-bin/tacticalubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=78;t=000037

    Also on TF:

    :big grin:

I also see no reason to start sackriding the ruger. Lets wait until more people are shooting the keltec clone to say its any better than the keltec. Even $1000 for a rohrbaugh doesn't get you a pocket pistol thats without problems.

They are the same size pistol so why get a .32 when you can get the same thing in .380?
Run some DPXs in it and you are set. It's not a combat gun, it's a deep concealment/backup pistol to give you a chance at getting away or getting to a bigger gun. As long as you realize that, then it's a good little gun.

As for hard chrome? Simple. Mail the slide to Keltec with a 20 dollar bill and they will hard chorme it for you.

    ack, they quit doing it???
    damn.

I sent both of mine in and they did polishing, deburring, hard chroming and put on a set of nightsights on the P11. Total bill, 100 bucks.

Oh well. Now I'd just go to brownells online and buy a can of duracoat.
Spray slide, toss it in your oven for an hour, and you are all set. I've done a few of my guns that way. (just make sure you have good ventilation)

I carry my P3AT most every day. while yes I worry about it being .380 sometimes, I'm glad I have it rather than nothing. if you get one, it WILL go with you everywhere.

No P3AT'S at the show today that I could find. Guess I'll have to see if my local shop can order one for me.
