On Point and Shoot Zooms - whats a good range to look for as for speed? A lot of reviews say the lense is "slow"
Which number is the Lens speed and whats a better range to watch for on P&S?
    thanks

I think speed refers to aperture.

Without going into too many confusing details,

an aperture of f/2.4 at 5x zoom can be considered fast or bright

which means that you can shoot at a higher shutter speed.
