Ok bros, help me out here. I've been having elbow pain for about a month now. I have been icing it every day, but it just won't go away.

What happens is that when I squat, as I go heavier in weight, when I try to balance the bar the weight obviously goes to my elbows, and my left one begins KILLING. After that, I can't bench or do any pressing movements. I couldn't even drink my water at the gym with my left hand.

I'm taking a week of, if I still get this shit come the Monday after, I'm seeing a doctor :(

I think you arms should only serve to trap the bar on your back, not support the weight. Bringing your elbows up might alleviate the problem.

You still have to balance the weight, no matter what.

Bu honestly, that's neither here nor there. If it doesnt start after squats, it starts after bench.

squat high bar, let your traps/back take the whole weight for a while. Avoid anything that hurts it.

Given that hes most likely relatively inflexible through the shoulder (most pl'ers are) hes not going to have a great position in a front squat and it would probably place more stress on the elbow joint.

    My opinion.

I meant with a cross-arm grip, not a clean grip

Yeah, I'm thinking front squat (cross-arm) will be the way to go for some time, that still won't relieve pain associated with say, bench press.

Like I said, where do I get the "stop pain" stuff? I'm going to go to Meijer in about an hour and pickup some kind of IcyHot or w/e stuff, anything I should consider?

Definitely tendinitis. Ice and rest is all that really helps. Probably will take at least 10 days without use.

Stick to leg press and such until then. I had this in January and it was bogus. Rested for a couple weeks and its been fine ever since. Always feel a little bit of a twinge though. Meh.

Yeah I was thinking I'll substitute leg presses and get some cardio in this week so that my body doesn't go to complete shit this week. I was going to do front squats but I feel that my knees may need the rest.

Blue Heat from the EFS site saved my elbow pain, it's pretty cheap too

    it's under "Liniments"

I know a couple other people on here have had success with other industrial grade stuff like that

massage. x-rays said i had eroded cartilage from my left elbow, but i massaged it away. :dunno: you have to know where to massage though, so keep feeling around for tender areas.

Now that I think about it an elbow brace for a few hours a day seemed to help me alot too.

Kept pressure on the tendon and kept it from moving around the bone.
