I just got a new laptop. It is a hp pavillion zx5000. I was very happy with the computers performance for about a week, then I began to get errors. The computer kept restarting, and everytime this happened the laptop was running very hot. All the vents are cleared and the laptop is on a flat surface, yet it still continues to restart. Right before it restarts I get a blue screen and it mentioned somthing about BIOs. I asked on another message board and someone told me that I need to speed up the BIOs. I have no idea what Bios are nor do I know how to speed them up. Could someone please enlighten me. I'd rather not go and exchange or reformat the computer.

Are you sure it's not bad ram? Have you tried running something like memtest86?

It seems to be working so far.

Dan, what is that test, where can take it?
