How do you transfer the 'old' emails from an existing laptop to another computer with same OS?

I would like to have my archived emails transferred to my new computer. :x:

Make sure you are set to show all files: Open My Computer, click Tools, Folder Options, View tab, then click Show all files

    Then browse to:

    C:\Doc&Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\ApplicationData\Microsoft\Outlook

Copy all of the files to new machine. The from Outlook click on File, then Import, then select Files from another mail program, select .pst, then point to your data files.

Or, do a search for *.PST. Make sure to include hidden files in the search.

I couldn't get it to import for some reason. However, I just followed the flow chart to manually replace it in the Outlook folder; voila!! :bigthumb:

    Thank You, Usual Suspect!

I had originally searched my entire C drive with *.pst and no results. I knew it's a .pst file, but had to do it the old fashioned way and manually transferred the files.

The end result was successful....As always, Thank You Gentlemen for your expertise.

Prolly had system or hidden files turned off.

I hate XP's search function - I often just use dir *.pst /s out of habit.

Does anyone know how to transfer other things like customized forms in Outlook? They're not part of the .pst file and I can't find anything obvious in the user's profile folder.

Did you try the Import/Export Wizard?

    File -> Import/Export

Yeah, it exports contacts, calendars, etc but not customized views or forms. :(

Unfortunately Microsoft hasn't really jumped on the "make everything portable" bandwagon just yet. There might be a way to export views in Outlook 2007, but as far as everybody I work for knows, there isn't one in Outlook 2003.

What about Microsoft Office Save My Settings Wizard?

Start -> Programs -> Office -> Office Tools

I've never used it but have heard it can be helpful.
