My site has outgrown its current shared hosting plan. I don't want to pay 100 a month though for a dedicated or a VPS. I have an extra computer at my house for use as a home media server. I can get a business line from AT&T for 55 bucks that includes 768mbps upload speed. Would this hold a vbulletin forum well enough?

Any pro's and cons versus using the two?

You can get a decent VPS for under $55 a month, depending on how much disk space and transfer you need.

    I think you mean kbps.

A single user browsing your site would max out your upload, unfortunately.

that's exactly what I did. got sick of my shared hosting, as did a friend, so we split the cost of a dedicated and then resell some space to family and friends to cover what we pay :wiggle:

I think I'm going to go to Liquid Web. Any thoughts regarding them? I would rather have linux also so I can do a full backup of my cPanel and restore it... I heard it was hell restoring from cPanel to Plesk

    Mind sharing where?

shared, but clustered shared - so you get less cpu restrictions.

Only host who has happily let me run an image host on them.

    DUDE

So I'm taking a full cPanel backup of my shared environment, and Lunarpages allows a remote FTP option... So I don't have to download this shit myself and upload it off my shitty up speed.

Dude, it's running at like 1 mb a second...

Might take you up on that. I've already called LW twice... I'm a noob at WHM, but when I got it, my primary domain wasn't setup, only the DNS zone. Had to remove that, than create the account.

    Ohhh this is gonna rock
