So I've been working all weekend on the script for my first book. My artist has turned in the first 6 pages for me to approve :noes: and then writers block. :greddy:

    Writers? Where? :p

I've always been interested in writing, just never got into it because i'm just too damn lazy. And definitly not good enough to write anything decent, but i'm good at speaking.

Tell me, you doing a proper comic? Or is it more a web-comic? I take it it's the former since it's 6 pages already, but you never know.

it is definitely a proper book. the way the major story arc is headed it looks like we're going to try for 3 or 4 issues. most likely published through comixpress.com. feedback is fairly positive from there and i'm a realist and see no IDW or DarkHorse logo adorning the cover of my book anytime in the near present. i was really on the fence about doing the book until i saw that the overall cost of pumping out 20-40 copies to take around to the lcs around the lower mainland. the artist i'm working with has started talking about doing a graphic novel. :noes: we'll see!

it started with a good friend of mine saying 'we should do a comic about robots... i like drawing mechs and shit y'know?' i laughed and said sure you doodle me up a couple of characters and i'll write the story. i honestly didn't think that the drawings were going to be worthwhile and sort of put it out of my mind until she threw a booklet of character sketches at me and holy shit was i ever wrong. so now i'm knee deep in story and color discussions. it never occurred to me just how much work goes into coming up with a book. i'd never imagined i'd be sitting around drinking tea with a handful of color swatches and a desktop filled with cityscapes. :hsd:

I'm writing a book right now too. I want to submit it to the indy publishers at wondercon.

I'm also the artist for another book that my friend is writing.

the block i'm dealing with right now is more or less trying to justify the civilization as a whole. economically how the world works and whatnot.

By the how. What's your book about?

Mine is about the only super hero in the world, he can't hold down a job, who lives in the slums, etc. etc. Because he can't keep a job because of his incessant need to continuously save people and all the problems related to having super powers.

mine's about a robot living on earth with the rest of the robots that man created. the last human has died and now the bots are continuing to follow their programs, maintaining cities and parks and pretty much running the civilization that man leaves behind.

Oh the other story I'm writing/drawing for is about a 30 foot tall lava monster who lives as my friend's roommate. He's the king of the lava world, but since he's made of lava and the lava world is made of lava, he's pretty much the king of nothing. He's horribly backwards, awkward and has delusions of grandeur.
