What do you all use? I'm interested in this camera that JohnnyChimpo has for sale atm: http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=4448727

which ones have the best reviews, best quality etc.

Any help would be appreciated. thanks guys!

No. The T1i is not what you're looking for.

The T1i is not a still camera AND a video camera, it is a still camera that can take some video if it needs to. And 1080 @ 20fps? Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?

    there are other limitations, too.

a microphone for one thing. i would need a lapel mic or a shotgun with muff at the very least.

also, i wouldn't be able to take a great deal of footage with it, unless I go down there with 20 8 gig sd cards

thanks for knocking sense into me.

I don't get why people are recommending DSLRs with HD Video capability.

TS is specifically asking about a video camera. Although newer DSLRs have Video recording capabilities, they still lack in other departments, namely microphone inputs, and the overall ergonomics in a handheld format.

I'd still recommend taking a look at some of the hv or hf series.

Yeah, still, suggestions were made before he specified.

Having a D90, and having used a T1i, I can say from experience that I prefer a camcorder when shooting video that isn't a 3 minute clip. It's handy to have, but not practical as a dedicated video camera. That's all I'm saying.
