I bought the tokina 11-16 before europe. Great lens, no arguing that. However, I'm severely lacking between 16 and 55. I only have primes. I feel I don't use the wide angle much.

    What do you guys think?

I could always rent a wide angle if I do another trip again. I really missed not having something like the 17-50 or 28-75 in europe. I was jealous as Heinzanova was walking around the whole time with his nikon 24-70.

I like the Tammy A LOT and it's sharp wide open throughout the entire zoom range. DO IT

I find the 17-50 DX and 24-70 FX range so incredibly boring.

I rarely use my 24-70 when I'm not traveling or shooting events.

thanks for the input. i put it up on CL just for the hell of it. luckily the tamron is cheaper, and i'll sell the tokina with cash to spare.

sucks i have a damn rodenstock UV filter on it. THat bitch was like $120. :wtc:

I have a Tokina 12-24 AND Tamron 17-50...there's nothing wrong with having both. (actually, I prefer it)

yeah i'll def own both some day, but right now i'm watching finances in case our contract gets cut in 6-12mos. i don't want to be throwing around $450. i'd rather trade.

plus im leaning towards 17-50 as opposed to 28-75 per jared's great advice... which is 28-75 if u have wide angle, 17-50 if not

yeah the 11-16 is constantly sold out

i dunno i was all for trying the 17-50, but im reading reviews where people say the new version of tamron lenses suck. does anyone own the newer versions with the built in motor?

i ordered the 17-50. hopefully it's a good copy. for now i'll sell the tokina 11-16. sure it's cheap by pro glass standards, but i hate having $600 wrapped up in a lens i force myself to use. i dont really enjoy it

the way i figure it is, if you dont need to sell it, keep it

if you've got a sharp copy of the 11-16, you should keep it because, what if you want to buy it again later down the track, you might not be as lucky with the sharpness

    very good point

i may sell one of my guns instead of the lens. my one gun would sell for the price of the lens.

i use the camera a hell of a lot more than that gun. fucking 45's are too expensive to shoot. $22/50rnds is ridiculous. i'll stick to 9mm

i have the tokina 11-16 and tammy 28-75. Haven't used teh 17-50, I have the canon 16-35 for that.

the tammy I have is unreal sharp, but slooow to AF, noisy AF and really struggles in low light

This is exactly my feeling.. I've always said that middle range is Just not wide enough to be cool, just not long enough to be cool.
