Haldex Quattro: FWD until traction is lost, then it transfers power to the back axle.

Mechanical: Depends on the engine. Most of the time you will suffer no mechanical issues whatsoever. Audis have problems with electronic gremlins for the most part. My 2001 A4 had neither, though. :dunno:

Etc: Great little car, but an outdated, overweight platform. This coming from a diehard Audi nut.

wow... the first response was actually serious... I'm amazed

what's the weight on a quattro TT?

I'm not looking for a track car right now... just a fun, comfortable coupe. Was going to get a porsche 968, but finding one in the condition I want is proving impossible.

The 1.8T motor is a stout motor though, no?

Weight on a TT Quattro can be easily found thru Google. :dunno: If you're looking for the coupe, I'd venture to guess it's around 3100 dry. The vert is heavier obviously.

If you get a 1.8T, check for oil seepage if it's over 70,000 miles. Might need a new valve cover gasket ($40-$50 to fix). The 1.8T is one of the greatest 4-cyl motors ever produced. IBhondasacklickers

I think the haldex system has a computer controlled viscous center differential that transfers some power to the rear at all times.

I'm not sure that power goes to the rear differential only when the front slips.

anyone have a badass awd faq/resource?

    Trust me on this one.

It can be set up to allow 50-50 at all times, but the clutch isn't designed to handle that, so YMMV.

My sister has one and while it is fun as hell to drive, it has no room and it does not feel like it even has a suspension system when going over rough roads.

If it's Torsen-equipped (traditional Quattro). TT is Haldex Quattro.

I heard the TTs has issues.
I was looking at one...but it seems that they are a little out of my range....a first model year that is in my range would have like 90k on the odometer = fuck no.

I want an auto. Auto TTs are hard to find.
