My ultimate master plan is to get the following:

    Nikon D300
    Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8
    or
    Sigma 70-200 f/2.8

and I want to get some sort of teleconverter (either a 1.4 or 1.7) to throw on when i want some uber zoom.

The thing is... I've been reading that the Nikkor TC's don't really do the auto focus unless you ahve some very specific glass.

Does anyone know of a TC (either nikkor or third party) that will let you auto focus with most lenses?

No. holding out for a few more months.

I'm trying to make due with my D50 right now :hsd:

I'll probably end up buying some glass first. I figured it wouldn't really hurt to start researching some of the stuff I want to get though.

I used a a rented 1.4x tele w/ a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS to shoot the blue angels, and when i got them home to check the pics out, the 1:1 details were way blurry :(

i think the issue is when you have a slower lens to begin with. i cant imaging having problems with either lens you chose, personally ive only used them on primes.
