I'm 5'10" and weight 202lbs, I want to drop 10 to 15 lbs of fat in order to have a well defined 6-pack. Currently I'm lifting 4 times a week(Mon, Tue, Thur, & Fri). For Cardio I plan on mixing HIIT with jogging.

Monday 3.1 miles in 30 minutes
Tuesday HIIT(sprint/jog 30 sec each for a total of 5 minutes)
Thursday 4 miles in 40 minutes
    Friday HIIT 5 minutes

Is this a good Cardio workout, or is there a more effective way for cutting down the fat. Also I started eating cleaner along with cutting calories. I plan on running faster as I improve my running.

that sounds pretty good, but shouldn't you be doing hiit for a bit longer? my understanding is that it should be anywhere from 10-15 minutes. not sure how effective 5 mins is. i might not know what i'm talking about though.

When I was originally reading up about HIIT, they suggested starting out with 4 minutes and working your way up to 8 minutes which I plan on doing.

there is no way on earth you'll have a visible 6-pack @ 180 pounds. Shit, you won't have a 6 pack if you drop down to 160 pounds.

and if you are in any kind of cardio shape, you should be able to run a mile in faster than 10 minutes. A 10 minute pace is sort of like a shuffle.

no six pack @ 180 = absolute truth (you might have abs, but definitely not a well defined 6 pack)
no six pack @ 160 = probably wrong. But i suppose it depends on how much lean muscle mass you currently have.

I'm just going from personal experience. I was down to 158 pounds this summer and I didn't have a visible 6-pack. If he has a shitload of muscle, maybe. I mainly focus on cardio, so maybe I'm in the wrong camp.

I'm guessing he is focusing on lifting, considering the minutes/mile #'s

@ 5'11" i had a six pack at 167-170, but not 180. Thats where i'm coming from. But like you implied, it really all depends on his body build currently.

i learned after a recent major/succesful cut that for me, I have to constantly adjust/change my cardio up. doing the same shit week after week just makes me plateu. I'd throw in a day where you swim or play basketball or just try something new. it keeps your body guessing and makes it more interesting for you. also, challenge yourself on distance/time for the cardio you listed, get better in some way, shape or form on each sucessive workout. ie, 3 miles in 30 minutes, next time you run do 3.2 miles in 30 minutes or 3 miles in 28 minutes etc...progress. i know its cardio not your squat but progress is key for me.

:ugh: I'm not a tiny faggot if I got down to 180 I would be ripped as shit. I'm going for distance not speed I did 5 miles in 45 minutes. Three more weeks I'm looking at doing 8 miles.
