I drove one a few times and was impressed by how much it handled like a car instead of an SUV.
That pretty much sums it up.
the brakes are really fucking touchy on those
They're for dumb people seeking status.
Also for stupid people that worship badges.
If you want handling, buy a car.
best all around SUV on the road today, imho
bitch i was boning had one, was nice to drive
i don't know shit about them just saw some '00-'03s on CL for like $9-12k
seems nice, AWD, roomy ... ok milage, dunno about life expectancy (some like like 150k)
X5 Le Mans
Seriously best SUV out there.
The E53 was engineered to perfection because BMW wanted their first SUV to be absolutely above and beyond everyone's expectations.
My parents have an 02 4.6iS and it has been trouble-free for the past 70k miles and is still going strong. A blast to drive, comfortable, exclusive looks (ours is Estoril blue) and relatively fast with 340hp.
They 4.6 and 4.8is are starting to creep into the high $20k-low $30k range and are a hell of a deal. Also relatively low mileage as a lot of them are secondary cars.
My next vehicle will be an '06 Alpine White 4.4i with the Sport package, I'll add the is lower spoilers, AC Schnitzer suspension, and some 20" BBS wheels and have a perfect tow vehicle for my M3
Here is ours:
No x6 no care
Company founder just bought one, sold his caynne twin turbo
I really really wish the new X5 M looked as good as the E53
IMO there is no improvement there style wise.
i want to sell my g35 coupe and get one
would be basically a straight trade
my mom bought her 04 X5 4.4i new in late 03, it has 110k miles on it now and I think the only things that have gone wrong were the rear air suspension controller (replaced under warranty), water pump at 92k, and a random Self Leveling Suspension Error message on the dash once every like 20 days or so
i think its a good evolution of the model
that error might be from a dirty sensor?
i think the new x5 looks terrible compared to the old one
looks too feminine
we bring it to the dealer and they're like "dont worry about it"
it goes away after like 5 seconds after start up though
9k-12k for high mileage turds.
my friend picked one up with 80k miles for 10,500.
01 4.4i...white on tan.
Pretty shitty gas mileage too if you care about that..
