If you are talking about insurance and benefits, you have to be married to the girlfriend and adopt the daughter.

Depends on how your current relationship is. I thought I had a serious relationship but by the time I was done with bootcamp the relationship was over. Also, as stated above, military does not consider gf or engagement when it comes to insurance benefits.

yep, that's one aspect of this career that sucks. training and deployments will wreck your progress.

once training is out of the way, though, you'll be able to go back to your routine.

this 26 yera old was applying for army ocs when he admitted to having leg surgery or something at the final physical review.

so he got stuck in the waiting room for the recruiter to come and get him xrayed + waiver.

he fucked himself bad...the doc was like

    "how are you ?
    "26 sir"
"well you're old enough to listen/follow directions/tell the truth"
    "yes sir"
"then why didnt you tell us about this before ? you dont listen do you?"
    "uhh sir.."
"answer my question.. YOU DIDNT LISTEN"
    "no"

You can't just go ahead and "commission," it's a process.

What the fuck is your problem? The only reason I said that was because the way you were talking earlier makes it seem like you believe it's just as easy to commission as it is to enlist.

no tunes is being a jackass - it is pasted all over the internet the different routes you can go to become an officer and im pretty sure if im not intelligent enough to be able to read and decipher a webpage I most likely wont cut it as an officer or anything else in life for that matter.

Pump your brakes. We get guys in here with all sorts of delusions and crazy questions. Just because someone has a degree, or even has become an officer does not mean they have common sense. I have worked for a couple of officers who should have been issued common sense rather than more rank. We can't assume you are intelligent. Making a statement like "If I enlist, I'm going to go officer" signals to us that either you do not know the difference between the two, or that you have a plan to enlist and then commission as an officer after obtaining your degree. Most people don't know there is a difference.

I am sorry for not being clear then. My grandfather served for 20+ years in the marines and unless he really turns me away from the idea I am going to make it happen.

I'd consider the Air Force if you have a four year degree and a family. The quality of life is pretty awesome. Commissioning is a bit of a bear, though.

it's not a simple process, OCS is pretty competitive.
