So far bands I've found that I like are In Flames, Children of Bodom, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Rhapsody, Between the Burried and Me, Catemania, 3 inches of blood, Draconian, Nighwish, etc.

What are some other bands that have this sound out there that I can acquire?

    You would probably like Kalmah.

    MEGADETH

Also: PANTERA (To a lesser extent, as they've got a different sound.)

I've always felt Megadeth goes along well with Iron Maiden.

    LARGE ATTENTION-GRABBING TEXT.

    Some folkish stuff:

    Primordial
    Moonsorrow
    Temnozor

    Some thrash/melodeath stuff:

    Black dahlia murder
    Disarmonia Mundi
Nevermore (dreaming neon black is a well known classic, definately for fans of pantera and the like)

You gotta love DM, they show that mr.strit (from soilwork) can still do extreme vocals when he wants to.

Another one for the Pantera fans is a band called Exhorder. I've never listened to them but apparently Pantera where heavily influenced by them.

Been listening to The Crown a bit recently, there album Deathrace king is pure metal goodness.

don't waste your time with Dimmu, crappy black crap metal. Listen to some Dark Tranquillity, Skyfire, Shadows Fall, Darkest Hour. Should keep you going for a while -- couple European and a couple American bands.
