Hey guys, I'm looking at scopes for my newly aquired rifle. I had a couple questions.

    - What brand do you reccomend?
    - What exactly does the second number in the zoom mean **IE - 4x20, what's the 20 mean?
    - Best place to purchase? Keep in mind I'm in IL so I can't just go to walmart, meijer, sports authority, etc anymore to buy firearms.

    Thanks in advance guys!!!! :wavey:

the first 2 numbers are the magnifications 6-20 means 6x-20x adjustable. the last number is the size of the objective in mm. cheapest place to buy would be online.

Alright I get the first number, but the second still is confusing me.

Rifle is just a Remington 7400, it's my first rifle :noes:

Basically it's the size of the lense on the scope. The bigger the lense, the more light it can capture, therefore a better, brighter sight.

    6-20x50
    means..
    Lowest magnification is 6x
    highest magnification is 20x
it has a 50mm tube (diameter at end) important when considering your ring height so as not to touch barrel

For this rifle I'd look for a 3-9x40. riflescopes.com and bearbasin.com have good prices.

the 50mm is the bell, not the tube. Tubes are either usually 1" or 30mm.

You can't even get co2 rifles there anymore. They still sell airsoft guns, and co2 bb handguns though.

Stopped selling rifles/shotguns a few years back.

I think Burris makes a preaty good scope for the price.

And the usual rule is the scope should cost about 2/3 of the gun.

Make sure whatever you get, that it has FULLY COATED OPTICS. Don't get one that says multi-coated.
