    I always liked them, but would be wary of repair costs- especially in V12 models. :hs:

    one of my mechanics has one 94 500sl convertible, it's pretty baller. remarkably slow for what it is but baller nonetheless.

    Not a car you want to own without a warranty.

    Best friend owns an independent Mercedes Repair facility and he lives quite nicely off of late 1990's S-Class sedans and SL's that are now out of warranty.

    They very reliable unless they have not been maintained. Lack of maintenance will cause a domino effect and you will never get the car righted without several multi-thousand dollar repair bills.

    The air conditioning condenser alone is something like a 12 hour labor job and the part costs over $1000 itself.

    sounds like it might be a pain in the ass i guess.. what mileage would one expect to get out of it? 100k? 150k?

    i dont think it looks that dated, and in fact, i think it looks way better than most new cars
