how can i tell how large of a tire i can fit in my wheel well? is there a certain formula that i can follow?

Im trying to see how large of an all-terrain tire i can fit on my 97 tahoe with a stock suspension...im thinking 33" tires would be the limit.

    suggestion?

33" would rub, imo. However, that is a very common vehicle. Go to a tahoe/silverado forum and people that have done it should be able to tell you.

is it 4x4? You can adjust the torsion bars if you need a little extra clearance on full-lock.

no...its not 4x4...i wish it was. but i feel like if i drop it, and put some nice rims on it, i would see me hitting a rock and denting up my rim...besides i live in south Louisiana, shit gets muddy. often. so a tire upgrade would be the most practical of choices imo.

33" is too ambitious without lift, imo -- especially with 2wd.

Bring it to a tire shop -- most will test-fit tires.
