Ok, so I just recently switched over to a Macbook.

On my Vista machine I have uTorrent with port forwarding setup to an open port on my router. I upload around my max of 240kbps or so when seeding torrents on my Vista machine.

Using Transmission with the following settings:
Port forwarded to same port, says open. Its connectable.
All speed restrictions are off, with unlimited up and down bandwith
I download numerous files and get my max download, and theres enough seeders that it should max my up connection but it doesn't it just won't connect to any peers at all.

If I turn on my Vista machine using uTorrent, downloaded the exact same file I get at least 30-40 peers connecting & anywhere from 190-240 kbps seeding.

It is the newest version of Transmission.
My tracker is online & connectable.
Same file on uTorrent works fine. (of course I turn off uTorrent and Vista when trying to use Transmission)

I'm a noob to Macs but not to computers, I don't see anything I overlooked, is this just a general problem with Transmission, or am I trying too hard and over looked something simple?

I actually had good luck with transmission, but it's not allowed by some trackers, so that may be part of your issue...download Azureus 2.5 (not the 3.x version, cause some trackers aren't allowing it either) and try that out. Just make sure to disable decentralized tracking and DHT.

I'll try that when I get home (currently at work).

I did check my trackers and all of them allow Transmission for their torrent/tracker compatibility list.

Ya Transmission is not liked on a bunch of private trackers. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long till there is a uTorrent released for OS X .

    ^^^ I can't wait for that.

I guess I will try Azureus 2.5 although I hate Azureus because of it being Java. Sigh.

Try BitRocket, it seems to work well for me.

Make sure you have a fully updated JRE and Azureus will run almost as light as uTorrent. (Prolly around 40mbs resident, as long as you don't have 11ty torrents seeding.)

I have no idea why, but Transmission just seems to suck when it comes to up and down speeds, even using my mac outside my NAT as a DMZ server (bypassing the router, in layman's terms) it's STILL slow.

When you go to transmission, preferences, network, do you see a green dot beside port is open and port is successfully mapped?

I've used both Azureus and Transmission, and I prefer Transmission. I use it for all the torrent sites I visit, and I don't have any problems uploading or downloading. :dunno:

Although I can't wait for uTorrent for OSX.

The problem with transmission is the lack of encryption, so I switched back to azureus until they update it

Installed Azureus, assigned the same port for TCP/UDP and sure enough it connects and works just fine up and down.

So looks like Transmission is dead to me. Thanks for the help guys.
