I'm using Shapeshifter and it has a few very good themes however the majority are pretty weak.

Are there any other good theming/modding apps out there for doing this? What are your experiences with them?

:coolugh: After years of Windows abuse, I'm glad to have a GUI that works perfectly and looks slick. Why would you want to change it?

Because I can? No idea - I was asking myself that too.

But shapeshifter does a pretty good job, is consistent and doesn't appear to wreck anything (contrary to the many experiences I have had messing with windows).

I think I just like a little change. And it makes it a little more unique.

I like switching up the icons and that's about as far as I go. The Graphite on graphite theme compliments the G5 nicely.

Other than that, I use Transparent Dock to do like it says and Candybar to change some icons. But for the most part the icons I change can be done with a simple copy & paste from the ones found on interfacelift.com

yep! changing the theme can get kinda buggy sometimes. I don't really recommend it but some people haven't had any issues. :dunno:

try going here if you want the latest and greatest mac themes: http://www.macthemesforums.net/index.php

as for me personally, ive had a purchased copy of shapeshifter for a little over a year. the only problem i have with it is finding a theme i am 100% satisfied with. i always inevitably go back to aqua within a day or two tops. i think jobs and the gang just finally got it right with this one. :hs:

Shape shifter takes up way too much memory. I got rid of it about a week after I got it.

i didnt think that it ate up any resources except for when its running. as far as i understand it just changes the GUI and then its done. once system prefs is closed it doesnt continue using memory.
