How do you guys organize your pics? I'm trying to come up with a good system.

I usually organize them in folders by the date and event. But since I have a daughter this year, there are a ton of pics that would be tedious to make a folder for each day, so I have a random pics folder now.

Just wondering how you guys organize. Maybe I can learn a better system from you guys.

Do you still do that for days that only have 2 pics?

I used to use a ton of folders, but it got tedious to find things. Now I use a flat folder structure of:

    /images/YYYYMMDD-(Description)/____.cr2

The benefit of putting the year first is that you can sort it by date. If there are several days with only a few photos, I just put them in a folder titled with the most memorable event from the set.

    Nevermind. Figured it out.

What are the extra benefits to using .raw/.cs2?

Is the date taken stored in the picture somewhere? iPhoto keeps screwing up the created dates on my pics.

this is how the folders look..once you put the name in the folder they become searchable by key names
