I'm posting here for a couple of reasons, 1st to show you guys all the pics, Second to get a little of Post Processing help on Automotive pics, I mean, I think these pics look good (ones below the most), but I'm not sure they look more of like a "professional" shot, Which is kinda what I'm looking for so I can do more of the future events around here.

Basically have a question: Usually when I open up a pic I want to edit in photoshop, the first thing i do is check the levels, then i usually do a highlight to about 30-40% just to show a tad more detail, and if needed I'll usually check the Individual Color levels. Basically after that I resize and save the picture that way, Am I doing the right thing, or is there more that I can do just to make the pic look better? I don't really care about effects and stuff, Just talking about the picture itself.

    Thanks for your time.

Matt Throwing some rocks, This car was fast as hell, He was top 3 until sunday when he broke something.

Alfredo on the Night stage, Me and my friend were standing where there is pretty much no crash barrier, so the were pretty much heading straight towards us @ 90 mph backwards through the chicane, after this some guy came and told us to [IMG] [IMG]

    Thought it looked cool

This is why this guy won, He seriously was fearless, If you can't tell that is a 90ft cliff on the left, and he was seriously the only one that came through that section on the gas the whole time, He finished about 10 seconds ahead of everyone else and had a 8 mph faster average speed than everyone else on the second stage. Not to mention he showed up with a rented buget truck, and handed subaru's mitsu fuso havin, their asses [IMG]

some solid shots in there... some would have been better if the car was more in focus.

I agree Fully, I had it on AF-C the whole time too, So it was continuously focusing, Then I discovered that Dynamic Area and Closest subject don't work very well at all for rally, And used Center focus, and that worked alot better, Camera Still was not fast enough for the cars tho :hs:

  9. I'm soo fucking jealous I wish there was cool shit like that around where I live. :wtc: The pics look alittle dark, and alot of the cars are out of focus. You could have done better, just keep at it. :bigthumb:

This is the best of the batch for many reasons :bigthumb:

A good start. Needs some refining but if you keep at it you'll get it.
I wish I could offer you more pointers specific to your gear, but I don't nikon stuff at all so I won't even try.

One of the things I've noticed here is there are some colour cast issues in some of the shots, and that is very easily remedied in PP. Another is the use of non-standard crops. If you MUST crop, than keep the aspect ratio the same:) Now just work on your focus and panning, and more importantly, shoot, shoot, shoot.

Over all some very nice shots. I think you should use a slightly slower shutter on the panning shots to seperate car from background a bit, also work on keeping the car a bit sharper.

One of them I really didnt like:

It has terrible out of focus bits. either you were moving the camera around a lot or forgot to take the polariser off. Looks like a mirror lens.

  16. I like these from the rest of your pics

That picture Was extreemely hard to take because at the point i was standing You HAD to zoom at 200mm to get the direct sun out of the picture. And about the focus, I really have never messed with closest subject/dynamic/center area's then later in the weekend I got it down with AF-S, and not AF-C

    9 point af ftl :hs:

Yeah, Well, That one I posted for the specific reason it was the only "Night" picture that somewhat turned out. No tripod, holding it steady by myself :hs: And I lightened it up quite a bit in ps :hs:
