Just put a couple hundred down on the beginnings of an AR build, and i'm excited to get it built and shooting, yet on the other hand i feel guilty for spending that type of cash on something that won't get daily use. :hsd:

seeing as i'm a college student, i dont have the funds to do that :wtc:

i plan on shooting it a lot, i have to to have knee surgery in march which means i'll have plenty of time to visit the range and rest the knee this summer :p

Yeah, being a college student that likes to shoot sure does suck. I've almost started to just shoot my 17HMR because I don't want to spend the money on so many different types of ammo.

I havent been in a long time, its a 2 hour trip to the nearest public rifle range, so i dont go often, but now that i'm in school there are some that are relatively close, so i'm hoping to make it a bi weekly trip. I was going to do a rimfire rifle, but figured that i would still be able to get one a few years from now

i hear that, im considering picking up a 10/22 just for cheap plinking. ammo is so cheap. even at the gun shows, they only wanted 15 bucks for 500 hand loaded rounds. :eek3: so cheap

The only plus about shooting a lot here is that the range is free.

the range i go to wont even let you 'rapid fire' rifles or shotguns... shotguns i can understand. but fuck man, anything more then one shot per two seconds they classify as 'rapid fire'. such bullshit.

I can't stand those types of ranges, when it's people who know what they're doing. There isn't any range officers at the one here so you'll get a bunch of people who just bought their gun doing stupid shit. I've pretty much stopped going on the weekends because of it.

yeah weekends can be bad I was at the one over in lake city and I had to change ranged cause the group of hill billies and smoking 13 year old kept leaving their AR on a bipod aimed at my head instead of the woods in the other direction when they weren't using it. :squint:

all this reminds me next week I need to zero the scope on the 30-06

think about it this way, it is a good investment. if u ever do need money u can sell it and it probably won't depreciate too much. so its like u never really spent the money to begin with.

Investment means it will appreciate, not depreciate less. ;) It is not a good investment, it will hold its resale value better than electronics though.

Do it a little bit at a time, I've been putting my ar together for 4-6 months now. The extra time has given me the chance to really read some and decide what parts I really want on it plus not having to fork over all the cash at once.

Buying toys is fun but saving becomes more and more satisfying especially as you see returns that are above $100 a month. Treat yourself, but invest in your future too so you're not the old person working at walmart at 70 worried if you'll be able to pay for a new roof for your house.

generally I would, I hate dumping all this money at once, but living on campus tends to have it's limitations, theres no way I would be able to assemble it here. I'm ordering it all and having it all delievered home so that I can put it together when I'm laid up recovering from surgery. It serves two purposes, one being that it will give me some time to chill out and keep myself from going nuts, as well as actually building it. I've been researching all this stuff for months

yah, Im really not even sure how I want to build mine right now. Im kinda thinking of a carbine with the bullet tip release, and a longer range build, but there are no real rifle ranges around here that would make it worth it to get a nice bull barrel upper. I guess that is why I am building the AK first and leaving the ARs for later.

dammit, can't make up my mind, the armalite has great reviews on Arfcom, but its 20 bucks more, damn my indecisiveness
