should my rear blade notch be the same size as my front blade, or should it be smaller due to the difference in perception due to the distance they are apart
?????? i dunno which one to order

good question... Depends on the level of precision you want I guess. Chunky Glock sights vs Target sights. But since I don't have an answer that wouldn't be made up, I'll wait for someone who knows better.

get the standard cut and if you want you can hog it out later.

I'll break it down for you like this as this is the "general thought process" for rear sight notch, and I'll allow you to decide what will work for you.

Smaller the notch, will allow you to be more precise, but you sacrifice a quick target picture/acquisition.

Reverse the logic for a larger notch.

Does it make it "less" accurate, I think it's splitting hairs really and not a big deal and I don't seem to think so, you have to remember your ideal "engagement range" is only within 20 yards with a pistol, actually more like 7-10 yards. I say get a standard notch and learn your preference. It's not a huge deal breaker either way and I think they only offer most sights in two configurations anyhow, "race cut" and "standard" cut.

I like plain rear sights because it keeps my eye's from focusing on the rear and rather darts towards the front sight.

let me first say that i'm looking at the setup you recommended

    dawson precision front /heinie rear

ok, but the question is what size front sight do i get? the same as, smaller than, or it don't matter.

what i'm asking is does the front sight/rear notch have a ratio? 1/1? if the rear blade is .125 should i get a .125 front sight? with the perspective change looking front to back i'd assume that if they were the same size the front "dot" would appear smaller.
