I don't think people realize that you can save a shit ton of money if you build a system your self then if you buy it pre-assembled. Or you can get one that is a LOT more powerful for the same price...

 If you're buying a "gaming" machine then yes, pre-made is over priced. But any average system will be more expensive to make yourself.

I priced the $650 setup I got from Dell at being close to $1000 if I bought all the parts individually.

Considering $1000 can get you a pretty pimp ass gaming machine, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

    Just did the same thing:

AMD Phenom II 955 Quad Core
    4GB of RAM
    ATI Radeon 4890 1GB
    24in LCD
    Blu-Ray drive

Went all out basically... and all for WoW as well.

I got a Nemesis Case from NZXT. Looks like a robot/Transformer on the front. Pretty slick. I haven't ordered the Radeon yet because I'm trying to stay above $1K right now in case any random expenses occur. Friday I'm ordering that.

if you guys are running intel i7's ( or at least top end quad or dual ), you fail.

Everything else is mid user level shit.

I recently built a new rig on a budget, no monies ftl. q8200 proc, probably should've gone for a faster clocked dual core, oh well. Buddy gave me an 8800 ultra though, fucking this is awesome. And only 2gigs of ram :wtc:

The system came with a 24" 16:9 monitor. If I made an identical tower I would have been looking at $600~ and then another $300 for the monitor. My whole setup was $650 w/ free shipping, if I bought parts I'd was looking at almost $500 just for the E8400 and monitor.
